Important Community Updates IMPORTANT NOTICE August 7, 2008 Foreclosures and abandonments have increased throughout South Florida and Whittier Oaks is no exception. We're not asking for a special assessment, but abandonments are creating dangerous situations as a result of homes no longer being maintained. Such dangers include unfenced pools, un-maintained pools and other obvious dangers that occur when a home is abandoned. Although NOT the Board's responsibility, your Board members are being proactive by implementing temporary safety measures to protect open and obvious hazards when the Board has been provided notice of such hazards. What the Board is asking is everyone's cooperation to report any such hazards associated with abandoned homes in our community. In the meantime, the Board is contacting the mortgage lenders that own the abandoned homes and we are pursuing options for permanent maintenance of abandoned homes at a cost to the mortgage lender.
